Featured Secret Spot
I discovered this wonderful vista unexpectedly the other day. I stopped to take a photo of the beautiful autumn colours, only to discover that there was no card in my camera . . . so there had to be a second trip to get the shot.
But it was well worth the second trip. This time there was more time to explore and discover much, much more.
I had found the location for an authenic Farmers Market held every Saturday morning come rain or shine. Where the products sold are either sourced locally and sold by the producer. There is fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, hand-made pasta, chocolate, smoked fish, olive oil, free range eggs, baking, preserves, flowers . . . and so much more! Located in the fruit bowl of Auckland, some of the produce changes from week to week.
There is a Vineyard Restaurant where you can enjoy excellent food, the tranquil beauty of vineyard vista's, and some award wining wines. Where possible ingredients are sourced from local suppliers and organic farmers. Fresh herbs are picked daily from their own herb garden for the freshest flavours. The menu changes with the seasons.
If you enjoy fossiking about for Antiques and Collectibles you can do this too! You will find two stores packed with Antiques and Curios, with a great selection of antique furniture, stunning lighting pieces, retro and vintage items, and other Just Plane Interesting stuff.

My lunch at the Vineyard Restaurant
I stopped to have lunch at the Vineyard Restaurant on a Tuesday. This is a day when they only do platters. Their full lunch menu is available Thursday - Sunday.
I am both gluten free and dairy free and Maria was very accomodating in modifying her normal platter menu to my exacting requirements. I settled on Pumpkin and Coriander soup, smoked fish pate with crackers and a meringue with raspberry coulis to finish. All made with the freshest of ingredients. Everything was so delicious.
I'll be back sometime soon try out their full lunch menu.
