Quintessential New Zealand Tour
New Zealand is renowned as the producer of the finest primary agricultural products. On this tour we will spend time travelling through beautiful rural countryside reflecting on the essence of New Zealand and taste some delicious locally grown produce for ourselves.
We will travel "off the beaten track" on country roads that meander through stunningly beautiful rural countryside, visit beautiful beaches, and stop at a Boutique winery, brewery and restaurant all in one, an artisan chocolate maker, a strawberry grower, as well as some interesting boutiques and galleries.
On this tour we will:
- Enjoy beautiful coastal scenery
- Take a short walk on beautiful beach, feel the softness of the sand under foot or paddle our feet in the shallow water or choose to spend time browsing in some of the lovely boutiques and galleries or enjoying a coffee at a café where tables spill onto the pavement and there are beautiful views to the beach.
- Enjoy a short walk in a remnant of native kauri and broad leaf forest. Hear bird song and enjoy the tranquility and sweet smell of the bush.
- Take time to observe the birdlife when we visit the habitat for three of New Zealand’s endangered birds.
- Meander along country roads through lovely rural countryside to the historic country town of Helensville where we visit the Pioneer Musuem and can browse in delightful shop stocking the best from New Zealand and selected imported ranges of gifts, clothing, jewellery and accessories that will delight your senses. "This is the place where you could find that perfect memento of your holiday" Stop, if you enjoy art, to visit a gallery with an eclectic mix of work by dedicated New Zealand and overseas artists. You may also enjoy a design store with many interesting Kiwi designed products.
- Enjoy a long and leisurely lunch at a Boutique Fruit Winery. With our delicious 2 course lunch we can sample a "spiral" of three of their delicious fruit wines and a "paddle" of five of their beers. Make your choice from their extensive menu. If you elect to take a Sunset Tour we will stop here to taste the fruit wine and beer, and dine latter at a restaurant on the North Shore.
- Meander our way back through pretty countryside to the rural village of Waitoki, where we visit a strawberry farm (in season, December – January) whose strawberries are renowned throughout the district and an artisan chocolate maker who crafts beautiful hand-made chocolates from the finest organic ingredients.
- Return to Auckland with a drive around the pretty beaches of the East Coast Bays. Time permitting we will walk the short stretch from Murrays Bay to Mairangi Bay along the coastal path. This is part of my own morning walk and offers superb views to Rangitoto.
- This tour can be amended to include a visit the Gannet Colony at Muriwai. "About 1200 pairs of birds nest here from August to March each year. The nests are just centimeters apart. It’s a air traffic controllers nightmare, but somehow the birds have it under control". Read more...
