Onetangi Beach, Waiheke Island
is where I go for a break from city life. Less than an hour from Auckland Waiheke has so much to offer. The apartment I stay in offers luxury accommodation and superb beach views. Take a walk each morning on the gorgeous white sand beach, take a short walk to a little bit of Tuscany on the hill behind the apartment while enjoying magnificent coastal views, enjoy breakfast at one of my favourite cafés, have a glass of Waiheke wine at a vineyard with spectacular views to Auckland City and so much more.
Rome - In 2009 I spent a most remarkable week in Rome. My luxury apartment was located on the 7th floor of a former palace and had the most amazing 360 degree views of Rome. Within a few minutes’ walk of the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo de Fiori, Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps, it is the absolutely perfect base to immerse yourself in Rome. On other holidays I have been to Tuscany, the Italian Lakes, and the Amalfi coast.
Aix-en-Provence is the perfect base for a leisurely holiday in Provence. It is a lovely old French town from which it is easy to travel to the Luberon, Plateaux Valensole, the Camargue, Avignon, St Remy de Provence, etc,etc. As well as being a short trip by TGV to Paris and the Cote d’Azur.
Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii is my favourite place to escape the New Zealand winter. It is so easy to have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday here.
Singapore Island & Bintan Island are both other good places to escape the New Zealand winter. I have stayed at 5 star resorts on both Singapore Island and Bintan Island Indonesia. Both I can recommended for a warm and enjoyable break from winter at home.
Switzerland - I have been to Switzerland a number of times and have used Swiss Rail here. I can recommend the rail as a way to get around; it is on-time, fast and efficient. I have travelled on the "Glacier Express" from San Moritz to Zermatt – this is one of the great train journeys of Switzerland and the world.
England, Scotland & Wales - I have travelled to the United Kingdom on six occasions. All in all I have spent almost 9 months touring around the UK and staying in Bed & Breakfast accommodation. I particularly like the north of England & Scotland. I have travelled all over – from John O’Groats and the Orkney Islands in the north to Lands End in the south.
European Holidays - I have had two amazing holidays with Wendy Perrin of
European Holidays. Wendy has been taking travellers from New Zealand to some very special European destinations since 1995. I have been very fortunate to travel with her in 2006 to Tuscany & Provence and again in 2009 to Greece & Italy. On her website she states that there will be "time to not only see - but to feel". This is the reason I chose her tour. I can thoroughly recommend European Holidays.
