About Slow Travel
The Slow Travel Company NZ Limited has been created by Lesley Masters to enable me to share my love of travel with others -"I have lived in Auckland all my life and it has taken numerous overseas trips for me to truly appreciate just what I have right on my own doorstep"
After years of working as an Accountant I have "dared to dream" and in 2009 set out to create myself a "job" doing something I am passionate about.
Travel is my passion. I have been on many fabulous holidays to numerous wonderful locations. I have rushed about trying to see everything I could possibly see. I did not want to miss a thing.
With experience comes the knowledge that travel at a slower pace is so much more enjoyable. It is experiences that are the most memorable thing about your holiday. Often remembered long after the images of scenery and sights have faded .
It has been a year of planning, but now The Slow Travel Company NZ has begun taking tours to some of Auckland's best hidden and secret places.
I am continuing to thoroughly enjoy exploring my beautiful city, meeting wonderful people who are quick to share their own special places and products and to eat at some of the very best cafes and restaurants.
During 2011 our tours will focus on Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf. This does not mean that we cannot help you with your holiday plans to other parts of New Zealand. It just means that our tours will be day trips to places in and around Auckland.

On Friday 6 August 2010, Auckland put on spectacular weather for the inagural tour by The Slow Travel Company NZ. 19 international managers joined Lesley for a trip to Waiheke Island to discover its beauty by discovering its wines . . .
Sunshine, sea breezes and rolling hills . . . define one of the world's most exclusive wine growing regions, producing wines with intense varietal flavour and the freshness and purity that comes from a pristine environment. There is nowhere in the world like Waiheke Island.
Everyone had a most enjoyable day. We tasted world class wine, olive oil, avocado oil and honey. We learnt about wine making, wine tasting and olive oil production. For lunch we enjoyed delicous gourmet food from platters of freshly prepared local produce, followed by a selection of sweet treats. Yum!!
